Question:

Can I wash my microfiber couch cushion covers in the washing machine?

Can I wash my microfiber couch cushion covers in the washing machine? I have a tan/brown microfiber sectional.
My dog had an accident on the floor today, and the promptly jumped on the couch getting a little bit of urine (which of course looked like more as soon as it hit the microfiver) on one of the matching throw pillows for the couch.

The pillow case does unzip, so I took the stuff out and am spot-treating that with "Nature's Miracle" spray.

Can I wash the pillow cover in the washing machine?

It seems like that would totally get rid of the smell but I'm afraid it will ruin the microfiber.

Can anyone PLEASE offer some insight asap? The urine's been in the cushion for approx. 4 hours now... aaagh!
It's just a pillow. Not a cushion that you sit on. Just a throw pillow.

Never, never, never wash sofa fabrics in the washing machine. They will shrink and you will not be able to use them again so your sofa will be ruined. Steam clean the entire sofa instead. But first check your cleaning code which is located on the deck of the furniture under the cushions. If it shows a W or W/S you can use a steam cleaner. If it has an S then you can only use dry cleaning solvents to clean it. Just because you have zippers on your cushions does not mean you can take them off for cleaning. The zippers are there only to rearrange the inserts for proper seating comfort. I have sold furniture for years.

i would have taken the entire pillow, along with any blankets or rugs that might also be dirty, and washed them in one of those large front loading machines at the laundromat. in warm water.
