Question:

How can I regain permanent custody of a child in Illinois in temporary custody of a family member?

How can I regain permanent custody of a child in Illinois in temporary custody of a family member? Does anyone know the requirements under Illinois law regarding the return of a child currently in temporary custody with his aunt? My son seeks to regain full custody and would like to have some information before he approaches his sister, the courts and state over this matter.
Thank you for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated.

Here's some sites to help you read the laws for illinois. You also might need to contact the clerk of the court to ask them how you can start the process.

This might do you some good. It's listed under custody and support, which seems appropriate for what you're asking. http://www.allofillinois.com/Category/Attorneys/Custody-and-Support/ It seems like a good resource.

Best wishes.
