Propane tanks (content wise) are generally measured in gallons or liters, not pounds. So if you've got a 100 pound propane tank, I would say it weighs 100 pounds.

A 100 lb. propane tank weighs roughly 50 lbs. when empty and roughly 150 lbs when full.

there are 2 kind of 100# one is the worthington cylinder which weighs 72.4 lbs. the other is manchester cylinder which weighs 69.9 lbs. the weight of L.p (propane) is 4.144 lbs per gallon. the 100# cylinder holds 24 gallons lp which is the safe fill or 30 gallons of water. hope this helps. i am a gas technician

All tanks have their weight [when empty] stamped on them.The weight of the empty tank will have a 2 letter abbreviation before it--TW[tare weight].There are more than 2 manufacturers of tanks and each manufacturers tank will have a different weight stamped on it.There will even be a difference in weight between tanks of the same manufacturer. example--- TW 73.2 or TW 73.6 A full tank will weigh 100 pounds [weight of gas] plus the weight of the tank.Example 1 when full would weigh 173.2 pounds.
