Rewiring from 440 volts to 220 volts on a square d starter?

Rewiring from 440 volts to 220 volts on a square d starter? SQUARE D SIZE 0 CLASS 8536 TYPE S STARTER.GOING FROM 440 TO 220 IS THERE A CHANGE IN WIRE POSITION TO DO THIS? IF I WIRE THE MOTOR DIRECT TO POWER SOURCE IT WORKS. WHEN I GO THROUGH THE STARTER THAT WAS WIRED FOR 440 I GET A BUZZ THATS ALL. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

i wouldn't mess with that kind of stuff dude, you'll probably electricute yourself.

you might try re-asking this question under another category other than cars & transportation.
all i know about utility wiring is if you touch the wrong things you will make the smoke all leak out of the insulation. :) be careful. good luck.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. If you mean the voltage that powers the coil in the starter, you have to buy a new coil for different voltages. 220 won't work a 440 coil. The contacts don't really care what you're running through them as long as it's under 600v
